New patients often remark how “caring and comfortable” our office is. That’s good, because our goal is to offer state-of-the-art chiropractic care in a comfortable surrounding. Upon arrival you will be immediately greeted with a warm smile, a sincere “Welcome to the Office”, and kindly asked to complete all paperwork needed to help us obtain as much of your health history as we possibly can.

As a courtesy to all of our patients, our insurance department will call your insurance company and ask them all the necessary insurance coverage questions that most patients have. You will then be seated in our comfortable waiting room chairs until you have completed the paperwork. During this process you will observe the positive energy between the staff, Dr. Joseph and our patients. Once you are done, our front desk receptionist will let our Chiropractic Assistant know that you are now ready to begin the consultation.

Next our Chiropractic Assistant will review your paperwork and guide you back to our consultation room where a cold bottled water will be brought to you to ensure you are comfortable, relaxed and ready to begin your one hour comprehensive health history and examination. The consultation will begin with educating you on what Dr. Joseph looks for to determine if you are a good candidate for our care. You will be asked to read a few short pamphlets to help you understand what we are looking for, how we may be able to help you, and how long it may take. Once you have the “basic knowledge” down, the Chiropractic Assistant will go through your symptoms, your goals and how these ailment(s) are affecting your everyday life.

Now the examination begins. The Chiropractic Assistant will cover six main areas in the exam:

• General Postural Inspection
• Neurological Testing
• Orthopedic Testing
• Range of Motion Testing
• Palpation Testing
• X-rays.

Once this is completed Dr. Joseph will discuss the findings with the Chiropractic Assistant and review the X-rays before meeting you.

You will spend approximately 15 to 20 minutes with Dr. Joseph where the most thorough history and exam you’ve most likely ever had is performed. Dr. Joseph prefers to use their hands more than fancy machines to locate and determine what and where your problem originates. Every muscle and vertebrae of your spine will be felt and tested to help diagnose you properly. Most examinations include you moving from a seated position, to standing, to lying on your back to lying face down. Often Dr. Joseph will have you do unique tests and put in unusual positions to help determine if your problems are stemming from bone, muscle, disc, arthritis, etc.  The combination of knowing your health history, listening to your complaints, feeling the area of discomfort, and studying the X-Rays will allow Dr. Joseph to determine what treatment option(s) will be best for you.

Most doctors and most medications can help alleviate your pain, but at Joseph and Hishon we pride ourselves in knowing what is causing your pain and of course relieving it. If you are in severe pain, you WILL be treated immediately following your time with the doctor.  If your pain is not severe at the time, Dr. Joseph will more than likely schedule you for a follow up visit prior to any treatment(s). This will allow Dr. Joseph to spend the necessary time reviewing your entire case before jumping to any immediate conclusions or diagnosis.

Finally, the Chiropractic Assistant will leave you with a “goodie bag” including a free ice pack, icing/heating instructions, topical pain relieving gels, health coupons, etc.  You will then be escorted to the front desk where you will be scheduled for your 45 minute follow up visit with Dr. Joseph. Most all patients leave knowing they made the right decision in choosing our office.
